How To Assemble The Patch Cord Cable
Nov 05, 2018

Twisted pair LAN cable is frequently used in our home and office. It consists of two copper wires with an insulating PE layer. The two insulated copper wires are twisted together at a certain density, and the electric wave radiated by each wire in the transmission is cancelled by the electric wave emitted from the other wire, thereby it can effectively reduce the degree of signal interference. Below is the step of how to assemble the Ethernet cable and crystal head.

Prepare the materials: twisted pair Ethernet cable, RJ45 connector, LAN cable clamp, crimping pliers.

1. Cut a cable that meets the length of the wiring, use a twisted pair cable clamp to cut one end of the Cat5e cable, then insert the trimmed end into the cable clamp used in the gap of the stripping wire. Note that the cable cannot be bent.

2. Hold the crimping tool slightly and rotate it slowly (it won’t damage the core of the wire, because there is a certain distance between the two blades of the wire stripping). Let the knife cut off the protective layer of the LAN cable and remove it. Of course, a special stripping tool can also be used to peel off the protective layer. Note: The stripping length should be exactly the length of the crystal head, which can effectively avoid the trouble caused by the stripping is too long or too short.

3. After peeling off the sheath, you can see the 4 pairs of 8 core wires of the twisted pair cable, and the color of each pair is different. The colors of the four full-color cores are: brown, orange, green, and blue.

4. Untie each pair of cables that are intertwined. After unravelling, several sets of cables are arranged and smoothed according to the rules. The cables should be straightened as far as possible and the cables should be flat. The method of straightening the cable is also very simple. Use both hands to grasp the cable and then apply force in two opposite directions, and pull it up and down.

5. After arranging the cables in order and straightening them out, you should carefully check them again and then cut the cable parts with the trimming cutters of the crimping pliers.

6. Insert the finished cable into the RJ45 connector. Note that the crystal head has a side of the molding spring piece downward, and the side of the pin is upward, so that one end of the pin is pointed away from the direction of itself, and one end of the square hole faces itself. At this time, the leftmost one is the first foot, and the rightmost one is the eighth foot, and the rest are sequentially arranged.

Note: When cutting, it should be inserted horizontally, otherwise the cable length will affect the normal contact between the cable and the crystal head. If the protective layer is peeled off too much before, the long thin wire can be cut short here, and the part that removes the outer protective layer is about 15 mm, which is just enough to insert the thin wires into the respective wire grooves. If the section stays too long, crosstalk will increase due to the cables being no longer twisted. Secondly, the cable may not be pressed against the sheath, which may cause the cable to come out of the crystal head, resulting in poor contact or even interruption of the line. Before the final step of the crimping, you can check from the top of the crystal head to see if each set of cables is tightly placed at the end of the crystal head.

7. Press line. Before the final step of pressing the line, you can check from the top of the crystal head to see if each set of cables is tightly attached to the end of the crystal head. You can insert the crystal head into the 8P groove of the crimping pliers after confirmation. After inserting the crystal head, firmly hold the wire pliers. If the strength is not enough, you can use both hands to press, and a slight "beep" is heard after the force is applied.

8. After the crimping, the pins on the outside of the crystal head are pressed into the crystal and the head is inside, and the plastic buckle on the lower part of the crystal head is also pressed on the grey protective layer of the wire. At this point, the crystal head is finished.

Through the above-detailed introduction, you should have a certain understanding of how to make the patch cord cable.
